Each Law Enforcement Agency and their Communities program leaders who join the CrimeWatch USA site will be able to customize all pages in their site area to suit their needs.  Law Enforcement can send Alert messages, post Special Notices and update Main pages at will.  Member Communities may also send Alerts, post Special Notices and update the Community's pages.  New Members can sign up online for any of the programs offered by the Law Enforcement Agency.

The Law Enforcement Agency CANNOT view Member lists or personal information.  All Member's information is kept secure, accessed only by approved Community program coordinators.  Please see Membership and/or our Privacy Policy for additional information.

Office web site launch Aug. 10th, 2002

Law Enforcement Agencies can receive funding for their community programs with CrimeWatch USA's revenue sharing program.  Every time an LEA or one of their Community members brings a Sponsor to CWA, a portion of the Sponsor fee is given back to the LEA.

 LAW ENFORCEMENT PAGES

There are four sections to the Law Enforcement Agency's site, plus the Main (Home) Page. The sections are Crime Watch Update, Programs, Features and Links.  All content in all areas is controlled by the Law Enforcement Agency, and is easily modified using Administration Pages.  All titles, links and page names can be changed easily.

Each Agency has an Important Contacts Page, On The Lookout (Alert) Page and Statistics Page.  In addition, they may have up to six different programs, for example, Crime Watch and C.O.P. (Citizen Observer Patrol).

Section 1:  CRIME WATCH UPDATE

Section 1 contains the Member's Login, Important Contacts, Special Notices,
On The Lookout (Alert Messages) and Statistics.  See Member's Login section under Community Pages below for a description of the Member's Area.

The Important Contacts Page is a list of the Law Enforcement Agency's key personnel, and how to contact each.  Civilian volunteers in charge of volunteer Community programs may also be listed here with their contact information.

Special Notices is a page that contains important new information, such as road closings and ordinance changes.  More than one Special Notice may be placed on the page.  The title of each Special Notice can be listed at the top of the Main (Home) Page, immediately under the Sponsor's Banner for that page.

On The Lookout is where Alert messages are posted.  These are the important messages needing immediate attention by the Members.  Usually, these are posted by the Detectives who are looking for suspects, vehicles or information in connection with a particular crime.  These messages may also be sent automatically to Member's email addresses, cell phones and text pagers.

The Statistics Page contains Crime Statistics for the Law Enforcement Agency's jurisdiction.  This page does not have to be used, and will not show up on the menu if not in use.

Section 2: PROGRAMS

The Program Section may contain up to six different programs.  The first program is reserved for Crime Watch, the second for C.O.P. (Citizen Observer Patrol)and the third is for C.E.R.T.(Community Emergency Response Teams).  The other four may be any Community safety program the Law Enforcement Agency has.  The purpose of the Program Pages is to describe the program, criterion for joining, duties and benefits, and invite new memberships.

Each of the program pages has a 'Member Sign-up' button, which allows new Members to join via the Internet.  When a new Member signs up, notification is automatically emailed to that program's chairperson or coordinator for verification and security assignment.

Section 3:  FEATURES

The Features Section may contain up to four features.  These pages allow the Law Enforcement Agency to explain procedures, how-to guides, or even publicize upcoming or past events.

Use as many Features as you need, and name them what you want.  The ones not in use will not appear on the menu.

 COMMUNITY PAGES

Each Community has it's own pages, customized and maintained by community members.  These same members also approve new members.

The Community Pages have the same pages available as stated above for Law Enforcement Pages.  The Community can choose which pages, or all, are needed.  This is a great place to promote upcoming Community Events and follow up after the Event with pictures and story.  The Community Members can also send notices to their Community Members.  Click here to understand how Membership works.
